this is a nice ring, fairly weighty. I had a very hard time getting good pictures....Some of the prongs are slightly off and I'm just wondering if this is worth fixing. I would like to know the age of it.

Try to determine the type of Garnets.  I can tell you they are not Uvavorite, Star, Grossular, Spessartine, Andradite.  Appears they could be either Almandine or Pyrope.
