Illegible artist's signature and numbered ("10/592" cast) on the bottom of the wooden bases for the horses. Only legible letter is the first initial, "G."

Weight

A little over a pound

Condition

Excellent

History

Description

According to the inscription on the wooden base provided for each of these two marvelous red jade horses, this set of sculptures is "10/592" cast.  The pair of horses rests in a satin-padded case, blue silk on the outside with ivory clasps.  Each horse is about 5" long and 3" in height, weighing in at a little over a lb.  Each horse also comes with its own individual wooden base, with gold pattern detail on the side.  The bases are both inscribed with the casting information as well as the artist's signature, which is rather illegible.  The only clear letter in the signature is the first initial, a letter "G."  Currently seeking more information, if anyone is familiar with either the sculpture or its artists.  This pair of sculptures was received as a gift nearly 30 years ago and has been kept in excellent condition since.

History

I got this from my Grandmother's estate

Description

This is a little pin on badge or medal of some sort, I'm guessing. As the description above says, I'm pretty sure this is sterling silver. On the front is a train and horse scene with I guess maybe a soldier in the foreground. The only imperfection is in the pin on colth area, with some threads coming loose. The dimensions of this object are 1 1/8" tall and 1 3/8" wide. This is a charming little pin and I'd love to know the history of it.

Item for Sale?

Yes, list item as "For Sale"

the front of the pin, depicts man, train, man on horse
back of the pin. I've looked with a magnifying glass and it has a very small print word at the bottom middle that I think says sterling

In a box of my Mom's old stuff

Description

I found this in some of our old stuff.  I googled around and, although there is no marking to indicate it, it "looks like" a Whiting and Davis Vintage Mesh handbag but I really have no idea.  Since you guys are the experts in this stuff, can you help me figure this out?
Here are some pics, any idea exactly what it is and what it's worth?  The enamel is time worn but the mesh and links are all perfect.

History

Inherited from Grandmother 5 years ago

Description

I inherited this necklace 5 years ago when my Grandmother passed. Family lore is that my Grandfather got it when he was logging in Alaska during the 1930's. I'm not sure if he panned for the gold and had the necklace made, or if he purchased it himself. I have always been curious about this piece and would welcome any information on it. I would also like to know what I should be insuring the piece for.

Thanks for your help!!!

History

recently traded this piece for some pottery

Description

this pin has a gold backing with old clasp. It measures 1 3/4 inches long and about 1 1/2 inches wide, oval in shape. Beveled glass edge. Looks like mother of pearl back with flower decoration and initials AD. At first I thought the flowers were made of hair, but I don't think they are. I was told by the person I got it from it was painted but it doesn't look that way to me. If you notice at about 5:00 you can see it looks like one of the leafs is raised up a bit. You can see a shadow under it. So really, I don't know what it is made of. I would like to know what it is made or and some relative value. The back is gold, looks like it was hand shaped with old pinning. It is a beautiful piece in excellent condition.

Enamel on Copper

Date Made

History

Found in thrift shop

Description

It's enamel on copper, seems hand painted before firing and left rough finished (Suggesting it was intended to be set into something, because it would have been easy enough to clean up the back after firing. Now it is glued to a brass pin, at least 50 or 60 years ago from the type of pin and glue which is as solid as araldite but water soluble - fish glue? Maybe?). It's 1 1/4" across,
Might be a "second" that was discarded as there are pinholes in the surface (usually fixed by applying another layer and refiring) and the brown part between the legs of the two women seems thicker, darker, and more pinholed as if it was some kind of correction.
I got it from charity shop, but it seems to be a truly remarkable tiny work of art...

Description

I have a necklace that has been passed down in my family. It was given to me by my Great-Great Grandmother. She had recieved it from her mother. So I am unsure how far back it actually goes. I took it to a jewler for apprasial (all this is very new to me), they of course could not appraise it and would not even verify if the stones where Jade.

I am from a very small town the antique shops out here really do not even sell true antiques.
I am attaching pictures and wondering if you can help.
This is the first time I have considered selling this, my husband is a residential electrician and has been laid off from the union for the past year. Times are very hard.
If you need better pictures I can borrow a good digital camera from my friend.
Thanks so very much for any help you can provide. There are also some prints on there I have no clue about

It belonged to my grandmothers aunt. She was an editor of a San Francisco Newspaper beginning in the early 1920s.

I do not know how old it is or where it came from but my grandfather said it was "worth keeping" He doesn't usually keep anything. When my great-great- aunt died in the early 80s, my grandmother and her sister were left her estate. They drove up to San Francisco from Los Angeles to sort out her estate they only brought home a few prize possessions this rug being the biggest thing.
